Local 1959 Drops New Recruitment Video for Student Athletes

With a massive amount of work heading its way due to the Biden Administration’s Infrastructure Bill, Local 1959 is ramping up its recruitment efforts to make sure IUPAT can complete the work. Earlier this year, 1959 Business Representative Bronson Frye, with assistance from the IU, started work on a recruitment video directed towards student athletes.

For the past few decades, high school students have been told less and less about Union apprenticeships and the solid careers in the construction industry. College has been the only option discussed. While college is a wonderful thing, it is NOT the only option that promises a better life. In fact, we now see that student debt often outweighs the benefits of a college degree. Not to mention, very few 18 year olds know what they want to do with the rest of their life, AND THAT’S OK!

Instead of telling an entire generation of unknowing young people that they have one expensive option ahead of them, let’s offer them a real opportunity to get into the workforce, get some life experience, and become a financially stable taxpayer until they are ready to make larger life decisions.

If you or someone you know is leaving high school and looking for a path to good paychecks, solid family benefits, and a career that allows you to travel, then check out this video…and, maybe think about becoming an Apprentice with IUPAT Local 1959 (or any of IUPAT’s other Locals in the U.S. and Canada).
