Rally For a Fair Contract For City of Seattle Workers!

Local 300 Members employed by the City of Seattle, along with fellow Union city workers, were offered a ONE PERCENT raise by the city’s management during a time when our city is in dire need of repair and workers to do the work. This is NOT the promise of a country that supposedly honors the hard working people that do the work of cleaning, repairing, and protecting our community!

That being said, the Coalition of City Unions (CCU) walked away from this insult by our city’s management and will be rallying on September 19 to let them know that “change” and “progress” have never been realized through disrespect. Read CCU’s statement below, and let us know if you will be attending here or the yellow link below.

“On Wed., Aug. 16, the Coalition of City Unions (CCU) resumed negotiations with the City after walking out of our previous session on Aug. 2. Recognizing the lack of trust at the bargaining table after nearly a year of negotiating, Mayor Harrell himself showed up and joined negotiations with the City’s team. While we are still far from reaching an agreement, our efforts have gotten the Mayor’s attention, and we need to keep it.

The Mayor, who is eager to wrap up negotiations this fall, acknowledged that the CCU’s Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) proposal is out of “survival” due to inflation in Seattle, and offered a small increase that is still far from fair. We have agreed upon an additional bargaining session this Fri., Aug. 25 to continue to push for a contract that respects all City workers. We will share an update as soon possible.

In the meantime, mark your calendars for our City Workers’ Rally for #RSPCT on Sep. 19 to show Mayor Harrell that we are strong and unified in our demand for a fair contract! The success of our rally directly impacts the strength of our contract, and we can't do it alone.

Pledge to attend our Sep. 19 rally with your co-workers and loved ones TODAY!”
