188 Signs New Shop!

The signing of Glaziers Local 188 of Washington’s newest signatory contractor, Pacific Window Systems, is a success on multiple levels.  This organizing effort’s roots go back to the early 1980’s.  Many years and shops have passed since those early days, and, as we always have, Local 188 continues to believe PWS’ family to be the perfect partner.

Past practices have taught the lesson and we’ve built a solid foundation of trust through a balance of both top-down and bottom-up organizing versus the strong-arm tactics of the past.  Both approaches build good faith relationships – one with workers, one with PWS.  Partnerships start with trust and good faith.

Political victories also led to this success.  The City of Seattle’s well written CWA’s, voted on and supported by the city’s voters, help to ensure public works projects offer a livable wage and require a Skilled & Trained Workforce.

Local 188 is Washington’s Skilled & Trained Workforce.  The majority of PWS’ work lands in that market.  The partnership only makes sense and benefits everyone.  In the end, it’s families helping families build a future together.
